New Year Excitement

We’ve had a lot of activity in the Glass House lately. I’ll give you a quick summary and later share the details--maybe.

A Wedding

The big event in December was celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! You just can’t top that. Then Josh and Michelle wanted to continue the Bonham tradition of a December wedding. It was beautiful and in a quaint Methodist church in Amityville on Long Island. You’ve probably seen some of their pictures, but here's a good one of the bride and groom.

Grandma and I had a great ride with Rick and Deb. The day after the Josh & Michelle wedding we spent driving through New York trying to see the sights and take pictures. Deb and I did the snapping and Rick did the driving. Scott and Lisa were our guides. We just followed them. [Remember, Scott used to be a cabby in Philadelphia]. We have lots of pictures of both NYC and the wedding.
A Death
We were only home a day or two when Aunt Shirley called telling us that my cousin, Lois had died. John and Dorothy found her by her bedside. They were concerned when all they heard was a busy signal. Evidently she had come down with the flu or something, but they don’t really know what happened. She had many ailments. In the process, both Dorothy and John became sick. John was able to attend the service. Dorothy was not. The interment was scheduled for the day after we left, so we drove out to the Brumbaugh cemetery where she would be buried. Mom and I bought some lots from Lois several years ago. We’ll have a lovely view of the valley and the old Brumbaugh homestead in Fredericksburg.

In all of this we met many old friends at the funeral home—Mauk and Yates in Juniata. One in particular was Byron Murphy who has been working there for some time. We rehearsed old times—when I would pick him up at a local bar. He’d call and ask for a ride home. If he didn’t know where he was I’d tell him to go outside and check the street sign. I’d pick him up and take him to our place. Some of you older ones may remember. He’d sleep it off on the living room couch.
A Birthday

Another big event was Amanda’s wedding shower. I wasn’t there, but I did get to witness the Bonham invasion as they crashed at our house. Wow! All those women. We had quite an elaborate set up for keeping Grandma’s birthday party a surprise. During the shower, Joy or one of you, swiped the cell phone from Grandma’s purse. Afterward we went to lunch with Jerry and Linda Michael. While we were doing this, the family was resetting the church from a wedding shower to a birthday party. Then we got a call that Arlene’s phone was at the church and we were to come and get it. That was one of the best secrets we’ve ever had on her. She was really, really shocked! She’s presently trying to write ‘thank you’s to everyone.
After all the partying came the snow.
There's been a lot of birthdays in the last week or so. I'll try to mention all of you, but I'm sure to get in trouble: Adam 21, Drew 27, Dean B. 27, Sarah 28, and Gma 30. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to You!!
